Command block teleport not working

So I've tried many different ways to fix this; none of which have successfully worked. WebThe 'as' in execute only affects the selector, without an 'at' the command run will teleport the player relative to the command block. Including 'at' causes the command to work at the target selector(ie the player). So running /execute at @p run tp @p ~ ~ ~ works, but it is possible to end up selecting two different players with @p.
