Nor does Germany or Belgium, although both those navies are given identification prefixes by NATO eg FGS (Federal German Ship) and BNS (Belgium Naval Ship) Japan does now use a prefix for it's post WWII Navy ie JMSDF (Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force).
