It works fine in my RCA U-10 radio/phono, which has it feeding a 6SQ7 - 6F6 amplifier. Its not enough out for a one-stage. The key is getting the element to bend properly with side-to-side motion of the needle. This means it mounts from the needle to the side, not back, of the holder.

In my experience, the crystal/ceramic element in a phono is quite small so I think you are not going to have any success in repairing it. The elastic suspension carrier for the element might have deteriorated as well so you will probably find this a problem.
