It is a lovely location, but most of it is private so opportunities for a stroll are limited and the adjacent church of St Peter was locked up when we visited. It originally belonged to the Benedictine monastery of Durham and was the location of Bishop Egbert's consecration as 12th Bishop of Lindisfarne in AD803.
