Only way to 'upgrade' the CPU on a T430s is to do a motherboard swap or know someone with the right tools/hardware and skill set to resolder (microsolder?, not quite awake). A T430 uses socketed CPU's and can use either Sandy-Bridge or Ivy-Bridge CPU's.

You should at least update to BIOS 2.81 (G1ETC1WW) EC 1.13 (G1HT35WW) issued on 2024/07/04 which include various intel CPU [censored] fixes and that bios still allows you to modify the EC to whitelist batteries and use old keyboard mods.

The i7-3520 is the fastest CPU Lenovo offers on the T430. With a slightly more aggressive fan curve it maxes out in regards to heat at roughly 90C under sustained 100% load. It is also about half the price of an i7-3840qm. I have that on my X230. I was also considering 3632QM, but it was about $40-$60 more expensive than 3720QM so that’s the one I got.
